Obituary of Deacon Jim Brown

James F. Brown

June 6, 1942- December 15, 2023

Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28-30

With heavy heart, that we announce the passing of Deacon James Brown, the father to Heather, (Stephen) Kruk, Tiffaney ( Randall) Doughman, Kiersten (Micheal) Olson, Tamara (Steven) Moor, Jamie (Elizabeth) Brown, and Jonathan (Timothy Swearingen) Brown. Cherished by 16 grandchildren. Best friend to his beloved standard poodle, Willow.  Loving cousin, uncle, friend to many, member of the Roman Catholic Clergy at St. Christine’s, Youngstown, Ohio(34 years), St. Matthew’s, Winter Haven, Florida (2 years), retired State Farm Agent/Manager (40+ years) and graduate of John Carroll University (1964).

Deacon Jim is united in Christ with his parents, Edmund (Mickey), and Florence (Gill) Brown.  In honor of Deacon Jim, visitation and bible vigil will be held on December 19th at 3:00 at St. Matthew’s Church.  The funeral mass will be on December 20th at 9:00 AM and also held at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 1991 Overlook Dr.  Winter Haven, FL.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution to Meals on Wheels of Polk County, Florida, Assisting Hands Home Care Winter Haven, Florida, or have a mass dedicated for Deacon Jim Brown at your home parish.
